My Commencement Speech at the AIFL
It was an exciting evening last night. I was chosen to speak at my Alma Mater, the Art Institute of Ft. Lauderdale. I didn't realize how emotional I would get speaking to hundreds of graduates I have never met before. It reminded me of my graduation 20 years ago and what I have achieved since. Also having my family there, including my 9 day old Cameron pulled on my heart strings and tears were flowing.I'm so thankful for all the support I have received especially Don Sheffield who has been instrumental in my education and career. Enjoy the video if you like, it's almost 7 minutes long, it's from the heart.

Speaking at my Alma Mater
Hello everyone,
I am honored and proud to be asked to be one of the commencement speakers this Thursday, June 14th, at my alma mater, the Art Institute of Ft. Lauderdale, where I graduated June 16th, 1987. Here is the press release. Crazy to think it's been 20 years.

Our newborn son, Cameron Alexander!!!
Cameron Alexander came into the world today at 12:34 pm, 7 pounds and 19 3/4 inches long. He's as beautiful as his mother. Both are doing great. Proud mommy had a tear in her eye when she heard Cameron cry for the first time.
Abuela, Carson (18 months) and I returned to visit Alison and Cameron this afternoon after much needed rest. It was a great first meeting of two little brothers. Carson was so sweet to Cameron, so far.

Tiffany and Alex 6-2-07
The Zientz Heckler wedding Saturday at the Four Seasons Miami was amazing, not one detail missed.
We had so much fun with Tiffany and Alex, a couple that exudes love and confidence. Their families are were such a delight to photograph. It was a beautiful traditional Jewish ceremony.
Mrs. Suzanne Zientz, what an amzing job of organizing this beautiful wedding. It was spectacular!
Sara of Sara Renee Events was in charge of planning for of all us on the creative side to do our best work. Thank you Sara.
Thank you Tiffany and Alex for letting us into your family.

Jenny and Diego (5-11-07)
Jenny and Diego are a young couple, they are so COOL. Both families have air conditioning companies, pardon the pun.
Jenny got ready at the Delano Hotel on Miami Beach, great location for photographs.
The reception was at the Big Fish Restaurant on the Miami River,
talk about great food. So simple yet elegant.

Cathy and Xavier -Cinco de Mayo
Cathy and Xavier's wedding was perfect.
From the rehearsal dinner on South Beach to the wedding the next day in Coconut Grove, it was so laid back that everyone hung out talking the night away. The toasts were so emotional, that had me crying. I just had to make sure I didn't fall into their pool.
I met so many great people, their friends are so diverse, I love it!

Adie and Jason (4-28-07)
Adie and Jason had the sparks flying all night!
With all the Cuban and Jamaican family love being felt by all, and add in a group of Brazilian dancers, you can imagine there was a lot of hip shaking going on.
The Alfred Dupont building downtown Miami is a great venue for a party. We love shooting there.

Jessie and David - Fisher Island (4-14-07)
Jessie and David are a couple that laugh all the time. They had such a great time being photographed, Jessie working all the "Diva" moves for the camera. Look at that dress!
We were all so comfortable in the relaxed atmosphere of Fisher Island. The weather was perfect!
Wedding planner Lori Kelly had it all flowing to the beat. The flowers were by Always Flowers.

Lauren and Daniel SOBE style (3-17-07)
Another great couple from NY, Lauren and Daniel. Nothing seems to bother them. From the rainy day on their engagement shoot to their friends getting caught in the ice storm that hit NY the day before their wedding.
All the guest made it on time although tired from all night travel that took them from NY via van to Virginia, to catch a flight to Orlando, then another van to Miami Beach. Talk about a determined group of people.
Daniel's father performed the ceremony that was so touching, not a dry eye in the chapel.
The reception at Casauarina (formerly Versace's home) was perfect for their tired guests to let loose and party like rock stars all night. The music by Los Angeles DJ Michael Smith kept us all going. Love was in the air all night.

NY comes to Palm Beach (03-03-07)
Brodi and Greg were so much fun. I shot their engagement the week before their wedding on the beach by his parents home in Palm Beach. A great beach day had by all including my family who came along for fun. It was Carson's first time at the beach, he unfortunately at too much sand.
On March 3rd the wedding was an intimate affair at the Brazilian Court in Palm Beach. Brodi looked spectacular and Greg could not take his eyes off of her, they are so sweet together.

More on Chicago
I just received this comment from Pictage. Thank you to whomever wrote this, it made my first speaking engagement worth it.
We ran a short survey soliciting feedback on PartnerCon Chicago... here is one of the comments you received:
Who was your favorite speaker? Why?
Carlos Baez was by far my favorite speaker. In fact, I have been to all of the Pictage conferences, and his talk was my favorite out of all three conferences. He was inspiring, and gave me so many new ideas for my own wedding photography. He gave practical advice for shooting in a more fashion-like style; his presentation was so well put-together, and he was such a pleasure to hear speak.

Catching up on Weddings
Since this blog is new, we are going to back track a little and show you a few of our events from this year.
February 10th was an incredible day. Ellie and Reggie's wedding was one for the ages. With over 500 guests including many Latin celebrities from television and the music industry, it helped make the party an over the top affair, muy caliente.
A major shout out to Liana, Reggie's sister, who helped plan an amazing event. And who could forget, "Don Julio!"
We had a crew of 6 working this one until 4am! What a party!

Back to the Prom!
Last night we were blessed enough to donate our services for the First Prom Ever for 19 students of The Village South. Sharing such a special moment in their lives meant a lot to us. It is great to see so many happy young faces heading for better lives.
Much fun was had by all. Cheryl Patella and her staff of volunteers put on an amazing event. Catering services were supplied by Chef Creole and music by Power 96.
For over thirty (30) years, The Village has been providing comprehensive (holistic) multidimensional treatment to adults and adolescents, males and females, suffering from chemical dependency, mental illness, dual disorders, delinquency and related behavioral problems. Each year, more than 1000 adolescents, adults and/or their families, most of whom are indigent, receive clinical services at The Village.
Please support The Village.
